Chester Stakes Preview

2.10 Chester Stakes 1m 5f (Class 1 Listed)

The feature race at Chester this Saturday is the Listed handicap that is the Chester Stakes. It's attracted a talented field of runners again this year and it looks sure to be another competitive intriguing renewal.

There's quite a few of these if not all that you could make a case for. Cape Coast for Mark Johnston is at the top of the market and looks a typical progressive colt for him, he comes here off the back of an impressive second placed finish at Ascot before back to back victories.

My Reward for Tim Easterby looks a big player also on the back of his second placed effort at York just ten days ago. He might have a little bit to prove back at this distance but he's sure to be effective if repeating the same kind of run, however a lot of these come here considerably fresher.

The one I like here though is Who Dares Wins for Alan King & Tom Marquand. He hasn't been since since a brilliant run at Royal Ascot where he was third behind Thomas Hobson and before that he ran a really impressive race in the Chester Cup here at the May Festival despite meeting trouble in running. The drop back down in trip for this might be a slight concern however he did win over 1m 4f here last year. I think another big run is on the cards from here though and I wouldn't at all be surprised to see him make a bold bid to get in the frame.
