Coral Eclipse Preview

This year’s Coral Eclipse takes place on Saturday afternoon and it looks be a cracking renewal headed by Cliffs of Moher for AP O’Brien. He justifies favourtism on the back of his second place run in the Derby at Epsom behind stablemate Wings Of Eagles. He’s trading at around 7/4 for this and connections feel that this step down back in trip will be key for him, he’s sure to give a bold showing if on form.

One that I think will give the market leader a lot to think about is this year’s St James Palace winner Barney Roy for Richard Hannon and Godolphin. He won in style that day when lowering the colours of Churchill at Royal Ascot. He’s up in trip here today but he gives the impression that he’ll have no problems staying this further distance and if he does just that he’s going to be very hard to peg back. He’s trading at a general 3/1 and James Doyle is on board again.

Eminent is said to be powering up and down the gallops at home and was close up behind Cliffs Of Moher in the Derby at Epsom when fourth which brings him into serious consideration. He gives the impression that there is a lot of more to come from him yet and he now has massively in form jockey Silvestre De Sousa now on board taking over from Jim Crowley. One of my personal favourites Decorated Knight has been progressing fantastically over the past year and continued that progression when a brilliant second behind Highland Reel at Royal Ascot in the Prince of Wales. He’ll relish a fast surface and might just out run is his odds of 15/2 again.
